It’s not the only SUV with twelve-cylinders, but it is certainly the most sounding.
Rolls-Royce and Bentley didn’t stop the world from being inhabited by their sport utility vehicles. We’re sure that Ferrari will not bring about the end of the world. It’s 2022, and everyone wants SUVs. Even one-percenters. Maranello will target the Cullinans and Bentaygas with its 12-cylinder SUV. However, more emphasis will be placed on “S” rather than “U.” The Purosangue, which is Italian for “thoroughbred”, has been tested before its official unveiling in the next months.
The V12 was announced a few weeks back as a “game-changing model”. It will be the heart of the Ferrari, among other SUVs. The Prancing Horse engineers will delight enthusiasts by showcasing a way to preserve the large-displacement engine in the downsizing era. The automotive industry has been dominated by smaller turbocharged engines, but the Purosangue will still have a large ol’ naturally-aspirated V12 due to stricter emissions regulations.
It can be heard in the spy video below of a prototype that is close to production. The camouflage is thinner. This engine sounds rev-happy and does away with forced ignition. We can safely assume it packs quite the punch. What is the price? We are confident that you will guess as well as we. We do know that the 812 Competizione had a 6.5-liter engine. It produced 830 horsepower and 510 pounds-feet (692 Newton meters).
Ferrari however has stated that an more powerful V12 will soon be available. It is not clear if the V12 will be used in the Purosangue, or as a sports car. We will have to wait until the world premiere later this year. We believe it will be a big four-door model with all wheel drive. It will also have the most powerful Ferrari ever built.
Although it is still disguised, this most practical Ferrari looks far sportier than many SUVs. We are starting to get the impression that it is more like a hot hatchback, since the SUVs have lost their generous ground clearance. This has led to a more compact silhouette.
The company pledged to keep its Purosangue as exclusive and as unique as its other sports cars . Ferrari will continue to allow existing customers priority. However, the SUV is expected to bring new buyers to the brand. Maranello will be able to attract younger customers, much like the Portofino convertible and the Roma coupe.
