Rumours suggest that the electric sedan will debut later in the year.
According to reports, the Audi A6 E-Tron will transform from an electric vehicle concept into a production car later in the year. This spy photo gallery captures a camouflaged Audi A6 E-Tron undergoing brake tests in Austrian Alps.
This camouflaged A6 Etron adopts a front with split headlights, in contrast to the concept. The main lamps are located in the upper area, while the running lights are located in the lower section. The trapezoidal lower fascia is common on both models, but it’s much more sharp on the car. The corners have narrower vertical inlets than the concept.
The profile of the production-spec A6 E-Tron is very similar to that of the concept. (See comparison below). These spy shots show that the front and rear overhangs are slightly longer than expected. Camo conceals design details along the flanks. This vehicle’s wheels have a retro look thanks to wider spokes at the rim.
The production version seems to be a lot different than the A6 E-Tron Concept. Although the vehicle has placeholder taillights it appears that the vehicle’s full-width layout has been lost. These spy shots also show that the model does not have the sharp wraparound design of its show car.
The A6 E-Tron is based on the Premium Platform Electric platform (PPE), which will also be used to support the Porsche Macan EV. The production-spec model does not have details about the powertrain, but it has two electric motors totaling 470 horsepower (350 Kilowatts) as well as 590 pound-feet (890 Newton-meters). According to the company, the vehicle can travel 62 miles an hour (100 km per hour) in under four seconds.
The 100-kilowatt-hour battery packs provide an estimated range of over 435 miles (700 km) in the WLTP testing. Fast charging is possible at speeds up to 270 kilowatts. This allows for 186 miles (300 km) of driving distance in just 10 seconds.
Audi has confirmed that the Avant wagon version of the EV will be available in 2024. This follows the E-Tron’s rumored debut late this year. The exterior is identical to the four-door’s, but the extended roof allows owners to load more cargo in the rear.
