Celebrating 60 years of the iconic SUV.
Toyota’s Land Cruiser is a classic. It has been around for more than 60 years. It actually spans 70 years, if you add the 1951 BJ. It was the Land Cruiser that evolved from it a few years later. This vehicle has been Toyota’s go-anywhere, reliable machine since then. The 2020 Toyota Land Cruiser Heritage Edition will be unveiled by the automaker to celebrate this history. It will debut at the Chicago Auto Show in just a few weeks.
What makes the Heritage Edition different from the regular Land Cruiser line-up? You’ll be able to see the Heritage Edition’s exclusive bronze 18-inch BBS wheels immediately. Black accents are added to the SUV’s large grille. The fog light and headlight housings at the front receive darkened chrome surrounds. The same darkened treatment is applied to the side mirror trim. Vintage-themed Land Cruiser exterior badges are also included. You might notice that the wheels are missing running boards and lower side moldings. Toyota has removed them from the Heritage Edition in order to “complement” its purpose-built overlanding focus.
There are also some interior changes. The only color available is black leather-trimmed upholstery with bronze contrast stitchesing. It can be found everywhere. The package includes special all-weather floor mats, cargo liner and cargo liner. Toyota won’t offer the Heritage Edition as an SUV for five passengers. The exterior color options are limited to Midnight Black Metallic and Blizzard Pearl.
The mechanical components are unchanged. In the U.S., that means a 5.7-liter V8 with 381 horsepower (284 Kilowatts), mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission and a full-time 4WD system. The 2018 Land Cruiser was given a major refresh. Therefore, changes below the skin are not expected.
The 2019 Chicago Auto Show will be the debut of the new Land Cruiser Heritage Edition. Sales will begin later in the summer, and only 1,200 Land Cruiser Heritage Editions will be made.
