Hennessey Pits 1,000-HP Shelby GT500 Against New Porsche 911 Turbo S

Only roll race?

A head-up drag race between two powerful vehicles is something that’s more fun than any other. It’s a great way of measuring performance, aside from the immediate enjoyment it brings, Hennessey held a race between the Porsche 911 Turbo S, and the shop’s 1,000 horsepower (746 kilowatts) Ford Mustang GT500.

Both vehicles can be replicated by eliminating the traction variable. They start at a speed of 50 miles per hour (80 km/h) and roll from there. The pony car wins the quarter-mile race easily, which is not surprising. Porsche enthusiasts will be pleased to know that the presenters don’t always fight fair.

American tuning company, American Tuning Company, was quick to point out that the Porsche would probably win a standard GT500. John Hennessey is already a man of great confidence and the 911 Turbo S video shows it.

We are still disappointed that there wasn’t a drag race between the two of them. We would wager that the Porsche’s savage traction could win it a victory in the quarter mile – but a race at half the distance would be more interesting. Unfortunately, the drag strip at Penzoil Proving Ground doesn’t allow for that.

The title of this video contains the phrase “street race”, but both Hennessey Performance as well as Motor1 strongly oppose this practice. This demonstration is only for testing purposes. Race your friends . Do it correctly and safely at the local race track .
