Polestar does not know all aspects of the performance EV-SUV. However, Polestar claims that it will rely upon a dual motor electric system powered with a large battery to provide a range of more than 372 miles (600 km) on two charges. These figures are based upon Europe’s more generous WLTP testing cycles.

Polestar CEO Thomas Ingenlath comments that the Polestar 3 is the SUV of the electric age. With this luxury high-end EV, we have a unique design identity. This car brings the sport back to the SUV while staying true to our performance roots.

The Polestar 3 will also be available with a single motor as an affordable option to the range-topping models. The EV SUV will be positioned to be a more expensive and luxurious product than the next generation Volvo XC90. However, the Polestar 3 will be powered with exclusive powertrains which are not available on the XC90.

The brand plans to expand its reach into at least 30 markets worldwide by next year with the Polestar 3. The automaker plans to double its global sales by the middle of next decade to approximately 29,000 vehicles in 2021 and 290,000. In 2025, it will have a total of 290,000.
