The Koenigsegg Gemera has more cupholders than a Nissan Rogue

Among many other things, this is a standout fact.

Christian Van Koenigsegg, a Swedish speed freak, didn’t miss an opportunity to show off his latest creation despite the cancellation at the 2020 Geneva International Motor Show. Koenigsegg also unveiled a more powerful version of the Jesko. This four-seat, 1,700 horsepower (3,268 kilowatts) hypercar is available for sale. The headline may be about the power, but the new Koenigsegg has many surprises. It boasts more cupholders per seat than any compact crossover.

Count ’em! Eight gorgeous carbon fiber cupholders. The two front ones are heated and cooled (!). To accommodate drinks for you and three of your closest friends. Practical, right? This is practical, right?

It doesn’t stop there. The cabin is also equipped with Apple Carplay, front and rear seat wireless phone charging, three-zone climate control, and Apple Carplay. The Gemera can carry one piece of luggage per passenger thanks to its intuitive layout. There is room for three bags in the trunk and one in each compartment. Due to its two-door design, the Gemera is not eligible for Uber. The doors automatically open and close, so both rows of passengers can easily enter and exit.

Koenigsegg solved a problem that no one – literally, not one person – complained about: cup holders in hypercars and cargo space. Gemera’s goal is to deliver “ultimate performance” in a more practical vehicle. The car delivers on that promise with an incredible set of facts.

The electric motors produce 1,100 horsepower (820 kilowatts), with a twin-turbocharged, 2.0-liter three-cylinder producing 600 hp (447kilowatts). The Gemera can reach speeds of 62 mph (100 km/h) with the hybrid powertrain, which is a staggering 1,700 horsepower. Let’s just hope that those cupholders work. It is possible to run on both biofuels or electric power, making it carbon-neutral. Gemera’s four-wheel drive, four wheel torque-vectoring and four-wheel steering technologies ensure a fun driving experience.

Koenigsegg will build 350 “Mega GT” Gemeras for customers who want a fast road trip with multiple friends. We love the idea of this limited-run grand tourer, even though we aren’t sure it will replace crossovers in customers’ driveways.
