Porsche Cayenne Coupe Spied Showing Off Its Weird Rear Wing

Porsche redesigns the Cayenne’s roof in order to give it a more sleek silhouette.

New spy photos give us a better view of Porsche’s Cayenne, which we will be calling the Cayenne Coupe until the German manufacturer gives it a name. These photos give us the first glimpse of the unusually placed rear wing, which rises from the middle of the hatchback rather than where wings are normally located.

The company covers this test mule in black, and conceals it with matching tape. The Cayenne Coupe’s front looks much the same as the standard model. It has the same three-opening grille, and the LED headlights. The design changes begin behind the B-pillar, where the roof curves downwards instead of remaining flat. This tweak gives the Coupe a more sleek appearance, but less cargo space. Although the company hides the taillights in this test mule they are expected to extend across the rear as on the standard Cayenne.

The powertrain details of the Cayenne Coupe are not yet available, but similarities to the existing Cayenne suggest the possibility that the engine range will be carried over from the SUV. Porsche will likely slow down the rollout of powerplants in order to keep the hype up for the new model.

Porsche will debut the Cayenne Coupe next spring and it will be available for purchase for 2020.
