Each vehicle will have a seven-speed manual transmission and only 115 units.
Porsche introduced the 356 America in 1952. It was a modified version of its 356 sports car. It was designed for the US market and we now have another Porsche that is firmly aimed at the US. The 2023 Porsche 911 Carrera GTS Cabriolet America Edition pays homage to the original 356 and the United States.
It is impossible to build a car for the United States without adding lots of red, white and blue. This car has a bright exterior and a shiny coat of Azure Blue 356 to make it shine. The wheels look white with a red lip. However, there is silver on the outside surfaces. Porsche claims it’s the first time that different finishes have been applied to a single wheel. Naturally, there’s America graphics along the sides. You’ll notice a black windshield frame rather than the body color if you look further up. Porsche claims that this is also a first for the 911 generation.
Inside, the red-white blue color scheme continues, with contrast stitching in Guards Red and Pebble Grey. Porsche spoke to media before the America’s Launch to explain that the interior’s dark interior needed a bright white color. This is not to say that the red seatbelts don’t look bright enough, but you get the point. The red pattern is seen on the shift stalk of the seven-speed manual, as well as the digits and numbers in the knob. There are only three special door sills to commemorate the 70th anniversary of America Roadster models. Porsche also offered a 964-based America in 1992, apart from the original 356 or this one.
This is an appearance package. The powertrain is the standard 911 GTS. It’s a good thing as it gives you 473 horsepower (353 Kilowatts) to the rear wheels via the manual transmission. This is the only powertrain Porsche offers for America. Porsche remains true to its open-air, enthusiast-oriented sports car concept. Standard equipment includes the PASM Sport suspension, Sport exhaust, and Sport Chrono Package.
The America Edition was created by Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur over a period of two years. Although technically available for the Carrera GTS Cabriolet, only 115 cars will be produced for North America. The majority of the cars will be sold to US dealers, 100 in fact. Rest of them will go to Canada. This rare car comes with a $186,370 starting MSRP, plus a $1450 destination fee. It will be available for purchase in dealerships by the end of 2022.
