This is what a 79-year-old lady did last summer in Belgium when she was asked by a judge if she was the driver of a Porsche Boxster GTS. She was clocked at 238 km/h, which is well over 140 mph.
She replied that she was driving. She also said that she couldn’t sleep and decided to drive late at night to get her mind clear. She also said to the judge that she didn’t know she was driving so fast and that she wasn’t getting any punishment.
Although we don’t have the details like the name or the place of the victim, Gazet Van Antwerpen indicates that the crime occurred last year. The senior speeder was given a three-month driving ban as well as a fine of EUR4,000. This is approximately $4,700. This is not a cheap punishment, but it’s clear that this lady doesn’t mind the little things.
A Boxster GTS’s 330 horsepower and top speed of 174 mph meant she had plenty of space to travel at speeds she didn’t know were possible. Although she was certainly willing to take the punishment, we aren’t sure how anyone can fail to see that a buck forty doesn’t really move in a car. Either she was playing the “I didn’t realize” card, as any speeder would do, or she wasn’t aware of her speed. It’s likely that she should get out of the car and walk around for a while.
