The Targa Florio, a historic racetrack, hosted the family reunion.
Targa Florio is a key element in Bugatti’s long history. It was home to the most important, but also the most difficult and dangerous endurance races around the globe. Targa Florio’s first race was held in 1906.
Targa Florio was a close friend of the French automaker because of his five consecutive wins in this endurance race. Bugatti won the race with the Type 35 in 1925, while Albert Divo won it in 1928 and again in 1929. This was the first and only time that an automaker had won the race five consecutive years.
Targa Florio once again witnesses another historic Bugatti feat: a family reunion of the Divo with a Type 35. The connection between them lies in their namesakes. The modern hypercar was named after Albert Divo, who led the historic French win.
This is the first time that these two Bugatti namesplates will meet on track. You can see the entire event on the embedded video. This is Bugatti’s chance to reflect on its rich history, which is probably the best way forward.
Last month saw the unveiling of the first Divo hypercars to customers, which completed the first batch customer deliveries. Bugatti stated that 40 more units of the hypercars will be delivered before the end of the first quarter 2021. This fulfills the commitment to make the multi-million-dollar hypercars.
It would be difficult to purchase a Type 35. You can still own one, but it is a $33,800 toy that you can give your child. It is still a rear-wheel drive Bugatti.
