Short-distance deliveries are not too difficult to find.
The Toyota Yaris nameplate seems very expensive for the automaker. The hatchback has been redesigned in several ways, including the high-riding Yaris Cross, and the beloved GR Yaris, which captured the hearts of many enthusiasts around the world.
However, the latest Yaris derivative is geared towards commercial vehicle use. The Toyota Yaris Hybrid ECOVan Conversion, which is based on last year’s European Yaris, joins the Toyota Professional range of vehicles in Spain. It’s intended for urban transport and last mile deliveries.
The changes in the Yaris ECOVan are in the cabin, where the rear seats have been removed. A raised wooden floor is replaced with rubber matting and a cargo compartment divider.
Toyota stated that the Yaris ECOVan could carry up to 720 liters cargo, provided it is less than 430 kg (948 pounds). These numbers are far better than the 286 liters of cargo space in the non-ECOVan model.
The exterior of the tiny Yaris ECOVan hatchback is the same as the standard model. However, Toyota offers the option to cover the rear window with vinyl if the buyer wishes to add corporate branding.
The Yaris ECOVan’s engine is a hybrid unit that includes a 1.5-liter three cylinder gasoline block, an electrical motor and a small battery. It produces a total of 116 horsepower (87 kilowatts), and 104 pound feet (141 Newton-meters), torque. It boasts a WLTP fuel consumption of 54.7 miles per gallon (4.3 liters/100 kilometers) because it is hybrid.
There are two versions of the Toyota Yaris ECOVan: Active Tech and Business Plus. Each variant comes with different equipment. Both variants include Toyota Safety Sense, climate controls, rain sensors and 15-inch alloys. There is also an auto high beam and a 7.0 inch infotainment system with Apple CarPlay or Android Auto.
The Yaris ECOVan is currently only available in Spain, but Toyota may offer this tiny cargo hauler to other parts of Europe.
