This is not expected. Two weeks ago, a new S-Class suffered severe damage from a fire that started in its engine area. It is believed that the car is an S350 Bluetec. The vehicle belongs to a retired couple in North Rhine-Westphalia. They noticed something was wrong while driving along the Ulrich Stockl Road and pulled over.
The engine compartment caught on fire, and it was largely extinguished by employees from a nearby business as well as some bystanders. Although a fire brigade of 18 firefighters arrived and brought three vehicles, it was too late to save the flagship sedan because of extensive damage under the hood. Also, the front wheels had to be damaged and smoke dripped into the cabin.
