Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series receives its first tuning package

The upgrade extends beyond the beautiful-looking wheels.

You would be hard-pressed to find a sports coupe that sells at more than $300,000. It is also hailed as the fastest production car to ever lap the treacherous Nurburgring. You can take delivery, and that’s it.

Wheelsandmore is changing that mindset and has introduced the first tuning package to the Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series. The German tuner, called the Underdock center lock adapter system (or simply “Underdock”), amplifies the GT Black Series’ appeal by providing a set of forged wheels with central locking.

The Underdock center lock adapter system includes an aluminum-magnesium-alloy central-locking nuts that allows you to swap wheels without having to replace the entire hub. It can turn any vehicle including the top-of-the-line Mercedes AMG GT.

The forged 20-inch alloy wheels by Wheelsandmore come in a twin five-spoke design and are available in a range of colors. However, the company doesn’t limit your options. All you have to do is ask. Each of the rim designs currently offered weighs between 9 and 12 kilograms (20 to 26, pounds).

The aftermarket upgrades go beyond the rims. Wheelsandmore upgraded the control unit to increase the engine’s output to 789 horsepower (588kilowatts) as well as 641 pound-feet (870 Newton meters) of torque. The unit’s top speed is now 209 miles an hour (336 kilometers per hr).

With more power comes the need to have better brakes. Wheelsandmore used carbon-ceramic disc brakes with special pads. According to the upgrade, it will have a 50 percent lower coefficient of friction than stock. Although information is limited, the outfit will offer a sport exhaust system.
