This racer features an upgraded suspension, larger brakes, and a track-ready inside.
Although auto racing is a pastime for the super-rich, the 2022 HPD Civic Si FE1 provides track competition for those who are not so wealthy. Its $55,000 price tag makes it a worthy investment. The racer will be delivered in November.
Civic Si FE1 is a specially-built version of this model. It lacks the sunroof and sound-proofing, insulation, seam sealer, and underbody coating that are part of the road car. The 1.5-liter turbocharged turbocharged four-cylinder engine is still in production. It has five power levels, depending on how the series performs. Borla exhaust downpipe is fitted to the mill, which exits through a pair outlets. Hasport engine mounts are also available.
Civic Si uses a close-ratio six speed manual with a strong 4th gear. The differential has a limited slip. The clutch and flywheel are part of the road car.
Many new parts are added to the suspension. All four corners have Bilstein dampers that can be adjusted in double. There are two spring rates available. Adjustable front camber and plates can be used. Rear has parts that can be adjusted for camber, spring perches and toe arms.
The Civic Si FE1’s brakes are Wilwood six-piston calipers, Pagid RST3 pad and slotted rotors. Honda adds bumper-mounted cooling pipes and stainless steel braidedhoses. Rear uses production-spec pieces with Pagid RST4 hoses and pads.
The roll cage is FIA-spec and made from TIG-welded steel tubing. OMP Halo seats with six-point harness are used by the driver. The steering wheel is quick-disconnect and it can be accessed from the driver’s seat. The top features a Motec C127 multifunction instrument display and data recorder with LED shift lights.
Honda is currently building the Civic Si FE1 in its Performance Manufacturing Center, Marysville, Ohio. This is also the location where the Acura and Acura PMC vehicles are made.
After paying $1,095 for delivery or $28,795 for the optional summer tire package, the road-going 2022 Civic Si is available at dealers for $28,595 The 1.5-liter turbocharged four cylinder produces 200 horsepower (149 kilowatts), at 6,000 rpm, and 192 pound feet (260 Newton-meters), of torque from 1,800 to 5,500 rpm.
