Is it really worth the $10,000 asking price?
China’s EV market continues to grow at an incredible pace. The country saw the delivery of approximately 213,000 fully-electric vehicles in April and 68,000 plug-in hybrids. This market is now home to 29 percent of all the market’s total. The Wuling Mini EV continues to be China’s best-selling EV. In April alone, 27,181 units were delivered to customers. Year-to-date sales data for the small electric vehicle show 127,542 units sold, which gives it a clear lead over the Tesla Model Y, with 75,250 deliveries.
The Wuling Mini was discussed when the GameBoy edition was launched in China. There are four versions: Party Sweetheart (Hurricane Phantom), Jungle Traveler (Star Rover), and Star Rover. Each version has a slightly different exterior and different wheelset. Thanks to a video review by WheelsboyChe, Lun Ge, we can now see the new zero-emissions city vehicle on the road.
Mini EV’s current version has seen a lot of changes since its debut, particularly in this special edition. The vehicle now features new front and rear lights, as well as a sporty package that includes bumpers and side skirts. Although the overall shape and stance of this machine have not changed, it still has a tall and narrow body and 12-inch wheels. It is worth noting that the GameBoy edition does not come from a collaboration with Nintendo. This has nothing to do at all with the Game Boy series.
Although the interior has seen significant improvements, it is still very small and cheap. The video host points out that Bluetooth functionality has been added to the vehicle and that the center console has been redesigned with new materials. Despite the fancier upholstery, the seats are still among the least comfortable on the market.
However, the most significant upgrades to the older versions are those under the skin. The new Mini EV is 15 percent more powerful, with a peak power output of 41 horsepower (30 kilowatts) as well as 75 pound-feet (110 Newton meters) of torque. The larger 26,5-kWh battery pack is another huge improvement, and can go as far as 186 miles (300 km) on a single charge according to the NEDC standard. However, the ride quality and handling are still at the same level as the prefacelift model.
