Cadillac’s future flagship sedan, the Cadillac XTS, will be built at GM’s Global Technical Center.

General Motors is preparing to begin production of the Cadillac Celestiq. The future flagship sedan of General Motors will be made at GM’s Global Technical Center. This is the first vehicle to be produced by the company’s engineering-design center since May 1956.

To support the production plan, GM will invest $81 million in Warren’s Global Technical Center. This investment will be used for the purchase and installation of equipment necessary to make Celestiq. GM states that the renovations have already begun.

Each Cadillac Celestiq unit will be built at the Global Technical Center. The vehicle is expected to boast the largest number of 3D-printed components (over 100), of any GM production vehicle.

General Motors president Mark Reuss stated that Celestiq, Cadillac’s future flagship sedan is a sign of a new, revitalized era. Each one will be built by an incredible team of craftspeople at our Technical Center campus. Today’s announcement demonstrates our commitment to deliver a Cadillac of the highest quality in design, engineering, craftsmanship, and technology.

The GM Ultium platform will be used to build the Celestiq. This platform will serve as the heart of GM’s EV offensive. It uses common electric vehicle architecture and components such as battery cells, packs, Ultium Drive units and integrated power electronics.

First revealed in 2020, Cadillac has been teasing the Celestiq to remind people that the Cadillac flagship sedan is on the way. The teasers that preceded this one revealed details such as LED lighting elements and silver exterior trims.

“From its unique proportions to its new effortless, sophisticated form language to the precision of detail, Celestiq stands out from the rest,” Magalie Debellis is manager of Cadillac Branded Advanced Design.

GM has announced that more Celestiq images are coming soon – just in time for the global debut of the showcar in late July.
