Deliveries start in September.
Alpina is giving a makeover to BMW’s 4 Series Gran Coupe, which is powered by diesel. Alpina has given the four-door a number of visual and performance upgrades to give it a bit more edge than the standard model.
The Alpina’s 3.0-liter straight-six engine is twin-turbocharged by BMW. It produces 350 horsepower (261 Kilowatts) as well as 538 pound-feet (730 Newton meters) of torque. It is paired with BMW’s xDrive all wheel-drive system and ZF eight speed automatic transmission, which allow the car to reach speeds of 62 mph (100 km/h) in 4.8 seconds. It can reach a top speed at 168 mph (270 km/h).
Alpina improves its cooling system to give it extra power. Alpina’s intercoolers and a transmission cooler are added to the car. The cooling system also includes an electromechanical coolant pump, high-performance cooling, and a transmission cooler. Air is directed to the coolers through underbody air channels.
Alpina Sport Suspension features a bespoke spring and damper settings to help channel all that power down to the ground. The 4 Series Gran Coupe is tuned with three sport settings: Comfort and two Sport. Alpina’s brakes are 15.6 inches in diameter and have four piston calipers. Rear discs are 13.6 inches in diameter.
Alpina gives the 4 Series Gran Coupe an aesthetic makeover by adding a front splitter. The D4 S Gran Coupe’s rear features Alpina’s sport exhaust system, which includes four exhaust pipes and an updated rear diffuser. New 20-inch wheels reinterpret the Alpina Classic 20-spoke-wheel design, wrapping the forged spinners in Pirelli P Zero ultra-high-performance tires. Alpina offers 20-inch Pirelli Sottozero Series II rubber in winter driving and for colder climates.
Alpina offers the BMW inside with heated seats, heated steering wheel and heated steering wheel. Lavalina leather upholstery can be added to the interior. The BMW tuned comes with a variety of safety features, including cross-traffic alert and lane-change warning.
Right now, the tuned Alpina D4 S Gran Coupe is available for purchase with the diesel engine. Alpina anticipates that deliveries will begin in September at a starting price EUR79,700 (or 83,809 today, depending on current exchange rates).
