It is available in standard and “coupe” flavors for the 53,63, and 63 S models.
2022 marks the 50 th anniversary for BMW M. It also marks 55 years of AMG, archrival. Affalterbach’s boys and girls are celebrating this milestone with a limited-run range of “Edition 55”, including six unveiled SUVs. These models are based on the GLE Coupe and the more conventionally designed GLE Coupe, in the 55, 53, and 63 S configurations, with a variety of styling tweaks.
The GLE Edition 55 is a throwback to the 1980s. It features a retro-flavored side sticker with the iconic logo. Available in Obsidian Black and Diamond White Bright. The 22-inch forged wheels of the sextuplet have a cross-spoke design with a matte gray finish. The wheel centers around the three-pointed star read “Edition 55.”
Mercedes has equipped these SUVs in its AMG Night Pack, which means that some exterior parts are available in high-gloss Black. The visual enhancements vary depending on the main color, but all vehicles get tinted windows as well as quad exhaust tips with black chrome plating. You can see the attention to detail in the fuel filler cap, which is finished in silver chrome and AMG lettering.
Edition 55 comes in a black-red interior, with AMG illuminated on the stainless steel doorsills. To emphasize the point, the “Edition 55” logo is woven in red onto the bespoke floormats. Nappa leather upholstery is standard on the 63 S, and optional on 53 and 63. The embossed AMG Crest is found on the center armrest.
Mercedes-AMG has already begun accepting orders for the GLE Edition 55. This will continue until 2022. You can purchase it as an additional package for EUR5,950-EUR13,090, depending on the GLE that you choose. Mercedes includes an AMG-branded indoor cover for your car to make sure you get the most out of your investment. For the GLE 53 or GLE 63 S models, the Edition 55 is available in the USA. Each model has a limit of 55 copies.
