New spy photos capture the 911 GT3 RS in its new color. It has some seriously aerodynamic parts that create lots of downforce.
The fascia starts at the front and is identical to the regular GT3, but has vertical fins on either side. A pair of large vents are added to the hood. They are not specified if they will be used to cool the radiators or route air to improve aerodynamics.
The big slits at the top of the front fenders can be seen from the side. Another fin is behind the wheel. The RS has openings in front of the rear wheels, which is not the case with the GT3.
The back of the GT3 has a massive wing that seems to be larger than the GT3. The rear decklid has a small spoiler at the lip. There are more vertical fins behind the rear wheels.
These photos show two cars with different exhaust systems. The car with the number 4002 license plate has two pairs of large-diameter black pipes that point down. The smaller outlets on the vehicle with the 4103 license plate have a metallic finish and come out the rear.
The car 4002 also has yellow brake discs, which indicates that it has carbon ceramic stoppers. The brake calipers on the 4103 vehicle are black in the front and red in rear.
The GT3 RS’s flat-six engine is reportedly a naturally-aspirated 4.0-liter. This engine produces 502 horsepower (374 Kilowatts) in the GT3 RS and 346 pound-feet (469 Newton meters) of torque in GT3. The RS, however, reportedly has more power than the GT3 RS at 520 hp (383kW).
A dual-clutch transmission is possible, according to videos from the RS’s development. A manual transmission may also be available to buyers.
We expect the GT3 RS will debut shortly. The exact date is not known. Unless Porsche has a plan to surprise us, the RS will not be unveiled at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.
