PaxPower has a new off-roader that is heavy-duty and high-speed.
The United States is a nation of Ford pickup enthusiasts who are looking for more off-road options. Although the F150 Raptor is an impressive dune-jumping vehicle, many people would prefer a smaller model. Although a Ranger Raptor exists in other regions of the world, we are still not sure why it hasn’t made the transition to the largest pickup truck market. PaxPower was tired of waiting so the Texas truck tuner created its own Ranger Raptor using a combination OEM and aftermarket modifications.
This 2019 Ranger was originally a Lariat FX4 version. Ford’s overseas operations sourced the body panels from Ranger Raptor. The bed and entire front clip have been upgraded to stock. Aftermarket bumpers add an aggressive touch. Custom bumpers are a necessity since Raptors’ bodywork and undercarriage increase the truck’s overall width by five inches.
PaxPower chose not to use OEM Ranger Raptor parts for the undercarriage. The custom suspension system for this midsizer comes from BajaKits. It includes 2.5-inch racing shocks and ungraded control arms. The Ranger’s 2.3-liter turbocharged four cylinder makes “about” 350 horsepower (261kW). They are mounted on 17-inch wheels. This is a substantial improvement over the Ranger Raptor’s actual 210-hp (157kW) diesel. According to PaxPower it should be sufficient to outperform the Raptor full-size in almost all situations.
However, such performance comes at a cost. That price is $65,000 which is roughly what you would pay for a new F-150 Raptor. We believe this price is reasonable considering the revival of the midsize truck market in the U.S. and the desire for an off-road Ranger that can fly high, so we are not surprised it’s a price buyers would be willing pay.
PaxPower’s Ranger Raptor will be on display at the 2019 SEMA Show.
