It’s the performance combination we didn’t know we needed.
Honda will be showing its Insight prototype at the Detroit Auto Show. This prototype is said to be a preview of the production model and will go on sale in a few months. The company will not have the Type R version, which is what you see here. This is because artist X-Tomi Design digitally imagined it.
It is stunningly beautiful and includes features such as new fenders, larger wheels wrapped with performance rubber, larger brakes, black accents all over, especially on the grille and side mirrors. And, of course, a huge rear wing. You can see the Type R logo embedded in the grille. The signature red accent lines can also be found on the front diffuser, side sills and the front diffuser.
It’s unlikely that Honda will ever make a hardcore Insight, but it’s worth the effort. Honda engineers could theoretically use the Insight’s hybrid power as a performance sedan, similar to its Acura NSX supercar sibling. We’ll be content with the standard version for now.
The Honda Insight prototype, which will make its debut at the Detroit Auto Show in a few days, will provide a detailed glimpse at what we can expect from the production version when it goes on sale this summer. While the Civic-based sedan will likely be stripped of features such as the 19-inch wheels, the overall shape and structure of the vehicle should remain the same from concept to production.
The production model will include LED lights at the front and back, as well as a full-digital cluster of instruments. A standard Honda Sensing active safety tech, an eight-inch touchscreen and an eight-inch touchscreen will be available. The trunk will offer almost the same amount as a regular Civic sedan.
