Introduces The SUV AlternativeAll the car you will ever need?
Skoda has launched the Scout to diversify the Octavia lineup after the success of the RS. It’s a wagon-only vehicle that benefits from a higher ground clearance than the regular wagon. The standard rough-road package makes it 15 millimeters (0.6 in) higher so that it can be used for light off-roading.
The previous versions had all-wheel drive. However, the new Octavia Scout will also be available with FWD to lower the price. It shouldn’t surprise that the Volkswagen Group offers a variety of powertrains. There is a 1.5 TSI gasoline engine producing 150 horsepower, and a 2.0 TDI diesel making 115 horsepower. They are connected to a 6-speed manual gearbox.
Skoda’s 1.5 TSI e-TEC engine will give you mild-hybrid technology as well as a seven-speed dual-clutch auto transmission. The 2.0 TSI produces 190 hp. The 2.0 TDI EVO, which has 200 hp and 400 Newton meters (295 pound-feet), is available in the Octavia. AWD and DSG are available on both top-tier gasoline engines and diesel engines. The diesel can pull a trailer up to 2,000 kg (4,409 lbs).
The new Scout, which is based on the latest-generation Octavia Combi has 16 millimeters (0.6 inch) more length and 15 mm(0.5 inches) more width than the previous version. It also boasts the best-in-class cargo volume of 640 liters (22.6 cubic foot). The underbody protection at both the front and back is finished in faux aluminum. There’s also plastic body cladding around each wheel arch to indicate that this version is more adventurous. An optional set of 19-inch wheels is available in the gallery.
Skoda also made changes to the cabin in order to distinguish the Scout from other Octavia models. These seats are only available for the outdoory version. You also get a wood-like trim on your dashboard and brown stitching throughout. The company adds chrome details to the handles, door trims and center console.
The Czech VW Golf Alltrack will be available in Europe later this year with a wide range of standard equipment. You will find goodies like heated and electric folding mirrors and LED fog lights. There are also options such as full-LED matrix headlights and a 10-inch touchscreen to aid in the infotainment system.
Additional details on the 2021 Skoda Octavia Scout are expected to be revealed in July, when Mlada Boleslav will have more information about “new features” for the company’s best-selling vehicle.
