See the Armored Car Driver Stay Cool under Fire, Foil Would Be Robbers

Jason Bourne would have been proud.

This video is quite disturbing. Although there is some strong language, you might be able to use a few words to express your feelings if you were being shot at. The good news is that there weren’t any injuries from the intense confrontation. This is because the stone-cold wheelman handled this situation like a freaking boss.

We don’t know much about the incident, but here are some facts. The description of the YouTube video above indicates that this was a cash in transit vehicle operating in Pretoria (South Africa) on April 22. An unknown group of criminals attacked it in an Audi sedan. As heavy bullets struck the vehicle, the driver reacted quickly and splintered the bulletproof glass on his side. The driver almost casually gives an assault rifle to his passenger, but he continues to evade and eventually makes a U-turn halfway through the video in order to confront the attackers face-to-face.

Another shot was fired at the vehicle from the passenger side. While continuing to avoid, the driver tells the passenger to call two or three people. The vehicle comes to a halt after a collision. There is then some panicky maneuvering to clear the area. Other people can be seen in the back of the vehicle, possibly armed and ready to defend themselves if needed. The video ends with the vehicle appearing high-centered, and the driver getting out of the car to defend the thieves with a rifle in his hand.

According to Times Live, the would-be thieves fled at this point. According to the report, there were actually two suspect cars and that the armored vehicle was actually a modified Toyota Land Cruiser. All those armored car upgrades that we see from now on make perfect sense.

Times Live does not mention any injuries to either the Toyota’s occupants or bystanders. The attackers managed to escape and are believed to be still at large.
