The starting price for the Standard Model in the United States is more than twice that of the Premium model.
The last Senna, chassis number 193, was sold at auction for a staggering $2.67million to benefit Ayrton Senna foundation. Now another McLaren has been donated for a worthy cause. This is a one-of-a kind 720S in Nerello Red, with a variety of McLaren Special Operations goodies.
The unique coupe was auctioned at the Naples Winter Wine Festival and sold for $650,000. This is a remarkable amount considering that a standard 720S sells for $284 745 in the United States. The Naples Children & Education Foundation will receive all proceeds. Since its inception, the foundation has raised more than $176 millions that have been used for over 200,000 children.
Apart from a custom paint job, the McLaren also got a steering wheel made in leather with Carbon Black leather handles. It features a Saddle brown interior with Nerello stitching leather. A tailor-made plate is also included. The outside of the car has a grape motif. MSO offers a variety of carbon fiber interior and exterior components.
The 720S is the car we love, with its biturbo 4.0 liter V8 generating 710 horsepower and 568 pounds-feet (707 Newton-meters), of torque. The 650S’s replacement can reach 60 mph (96 km/h) in 2.8 seconds. It needs 7.8s for 124 mph (202 km/h) from zero. On the way to 212 mph (341 km/h), it takes 7.8s.
McLaren would like to emphasize that demand for the 720S is greater than supply. Therefore, the winner bidder can drive his prized possession home immediately.
