It was just launched in 2021.
The Mercedes EQA electric crossover was introduced in early 2021. New spy photos show the crossover testing under camouflage. The crossover is expected to get a minor update. We don’t think there will be any significant changes in the powertrains.
These photos clearly show that Mercedes hasn’t made any changes to the model. The only camouflage that covers the crossover is the grille, and a small portion of the headlights. This could indicate that Mercedes plans to redesign the face. Mercedes is not expected to make any major design changes. The closed-off grille design is simple.
Although the photos don’t show much of the interior of the crossover, the top of its dash can be seen through the windows. We don’t expect any changes. The dashboard is identical to the current EV. A circular HVAC vent can be seen through the driver’s side window. The top of the dash-mounted display screen houses both the driver display as well as the infotainment screen. The layout may not change but the EQA should be updated with the most recent MBUX software.
We don’t think Mercedes will overhaul the powertrain with such a minor update. There are several options for the EQA. The entry-level single-motor model delivers 188 horsepower (144 megawatts). A dual-motor model can produce 288 horsepower (215 kW) with all-wheel drive. These numbers won’t change and neither will the battery capacity. However, new software or other tweaks may increase the crossover’s range.
The Mercedes EQA is a new vehicle, and will be available for purchase in the 2022 model year. The updated model won’t be available until 2023, but it debuted in January 2021. This update may be a minor redesign to keep it in line the the evolving EQ lineup. The EQA is an entry-level model for the all-electric brand.
