The truck will not be available for sale until next spring.
Chevrolet unveiled the 2024 Silverado EV earlier in the year. However, a new set of spy photos has captured the truck driving on public roads. These photos aren’t the most flattering of the EV’s, as it is a development vehicle that doesn’t care about aesthetics.
The Silverado EVOphotos lack the fit-and finish we saw at the debut. It’s a dull-looking pickup with a bland exterior and cladding. But, there are many things missing. The wheel arches, badge, interior truck-bed trim and side skirts are all gone. The taillights and daytime running lights are covered in cladding, while the temporary headlights appear to be temporary stand-ins.
We know Chevrolet gives the Silverado EV GM Ultium batteries. The automaker estimates that the truck will have 400 miles of range. Chevy claimed that DC fast charging at 350kilowatts would give 100 miles of range in 10 minutes. It can tow up 10,000 pounds and carry 1,300 pounds.
The automaker seems not to be too concerned about people taking photos of test vehicles. Mary Barra, GM CEO, shared a spy photo of what appears to be the same truck at Milford Proving Grounds. She also invited people to send photos of prototypes that they saw.
The Silverado Electric Vehicle will be available in two trims WT (Work Truck), and RST (Retrofit Truck). This will be the flagship model. The RST’s dual-motor configuration can produce 664 horsepower (495 Kilowatts) or 780 pound-feet (1.063 Newton-meters). Chevy claims it can propel the truck to 60 mph (96 km/h) in 4.5 seconds. It also comes with SuperCruise and rear-wheel steering. The WT has 510 horsepower (380 kW) as well as 615 lbft (834 Nm).
Chevrolet has already released the truck and some information about it. However, we won’t likely see the pickup arrive at dealers lots until the middle next year. The WT trim will be available next spring. In the fall of 2023 the RST First Edition will follow. The regular RST trim won’t arrive until the summer 2024.
