Because they cannot stay in hotels, they must haul campers.
Jeremy Clarkson and Richard Hammond are back for The Grand Tour Presents Lochdown. The official trailer is available ahead of the July 30 premiere. It looks great.
They are on a road trip through Scotland in American luxury cars dating back to the 1970s. Clarkson is driving a fifth-gen Lincoln Continental, Hammond is driving a third-gen Buick Riviera and May is behind the wheel of a fourth generation Cadillac Coupe de Ville
These large, American-made land yachts don’t fit well on the narrow roads of rural Scotland, as you might imagine. The trailer shows Clarkson’s Lincoln barely passing a stone arch, and it making a tight turn.
They filmed Lochdown in the pandemic. All of them will need a camper van to pull. This presents an opportunity to have some fun with fire-hoses, for example.
It does not appear that the men are always in luxury cars. Clarkson and May can be seen driving a 1960s Ford Mustang Shelby Shelby and Chevrolet Camaro in the trailer. Hammond is still riding in the Riviera but the supercharger is coming out of the hood. The rear wing looks like a Dodge Charger Daytona, or Plymouth Superbird.
The stunt in the teaser where the men have to build a floating bridge to cross water bodies is also shown. May’s Cadillac suddenly has a side exit exhaust and gets stuck. Clarkson’s brilliant plan is to drive him around in an attempt to get the Caddy moving again. May is not happy.
It looks like a hilarious adventure through beautiful scenery. This is exactly what the Grand Tour crew excels at.
