The unique LC79 Supertourer is a PCOR-based Australian product that looks incredible.
We love Australia. We love Australia. Patriot Campers Off Road (or PCOR) is familiar with building such beasts, particularly when it comes the Toyota Land Cruiser. The company offers a variety of upgraded LC79 models, which it calls the Supertourer. But this model is unique because of its brightly colored finish.
This video explains all the upgrades PCOR made to this unique build. This customer requested something unique and PCOR installed portal axles on the LC79 to fulfill that request. Portal axles provide significantly higher ground clearance because the axle and differential are moved higher into the vehicle’s frame. The wheels are not driven directly by the axle, but rather through a type or gearbox at each wheel. The photos show that this truck is spacious underneath and can accommodate larger 35-inch offroad tires.
This Supertourer comes standard with an aluminum bed that is PCOR-standard. It is equipped with locking storage areas and sliding tray. There are three fuel tanks underneath. This gives you a combined fuel capacity to the Outback of 290 liters (76.6 Gallons). Front and rear bumpers are custom with winches to pull the truck out of any trouble if it becomes stuck. Side steps allow passengers and the driver to get in the overlander’s high-riding vehicle. A dual bank of high power LED lights front and back with additional LEDs around the cabin effectively eliminate darkness.
The total project cost was not disclosed because this was a custom build for a particular customer. The LC79 Supertourer is priced at $118,000 AUD. This equals $80 824 in U.S. dollars. This is a reasonable price for a truck of this capability. However, portal axles can be very expensive and it’s likely that we will need a lot to bring this Supertourer into being.
