Later this year, the Alien-like machine is expected to land on Earth.
The Inferno may be beautiful, but beauty is not in the eyes of the beholder. The Inferno’s body is too busy for our liking. It gives us the impression that it was designed by a child after spending hours building cars in Need for Speed. Although it may appear to be vaporware, the Inferno will go into production before the year ends, according to Manuel Llaguno, the company’s marketing director.
The supercar was developed in Mexico but will actually be built in Italy. The first 11 cars will be the ‘First Edition’. Eight have been sold at an estimated EUR1.9million (about $2.14M). It is more expensive than the Lamborghini Centenario Coupe and will feature a biturbo V8 motor. The engine can produce 1,400 horsepower (1.044 kilowatts), 1,125 pound-feet (1.523 Newton meters) of torque. This should allow the car to reach 60 mph (96 km/h) from a standing stop in less than 2.7 seconds, before reaching a top speed of 245 mph (394 km/h).
The’metal foam body’ of the vehicle will make it weigh less than 1,200 kg (2,645 lb). It provides protection comparable to armored vehicles B4. It will use a zinc-aluminum–silver alloy for its body construction. This will allow it to absorb impact impacts up to 100x its size without losing any of its properties. Inferno claims that the car’s body will be strong enough to withstand collision impact, so owners can reuse them after an accident.
Although it sounds great, we reserve final judgement until the first production car. It’s up you to decide if the Inferno team deserves the benefit of doubt. We might be in for a surprise, but we won’t hold our breath.
