This supercar that you can do yourself will cost buyers close to $1.3M.

At the 2015 Geneva Motor Show, the SCG 003 made it’s world debut. It was James Glickenhaus’s pet project and is completely unique. The SCG 003 can be used on both the track and the road.

Although we have seen the SCG 003 at the track, we have yet to see it on the road. Glickenhaus provided more details about the road car in a recent interview.

The SCG 003 is a kit car, unlike many hypercars. Customers will be able to pick up the car as a kit car, without having to undergo costly crash testing or air bags. They can then bolt on accessories like wheels, taillights and fenders. Glickenhaus can fly a mechanic to your home to help you with the build if you are not mechanically inclined.

The SCG003 engine had to be fully compliant due to emissions regulations. The engine will be a biturbo V8 of 4.4 liters that produces 800 horsepower (596kilowatt) as well as 590 lbft (890 newton-meter) of torque. The rear wheels will receive power via a seven speed sequential racing gearbox, which is the same gearbox that powers Koenigsegg cars.

Customers who wish to race their SCG003 in sanctioned events will need an engine swap. Glickenhaus claims that it will not be too difficult because of the modular design of the car.

Initial estimates suggest that the vehicle’s total cost will run to $1.3M once it goes on sale. It will be street legal in all 50 US states thanks to the kit car loophole.
