With 702 horsepower, the stock TRX is no slouch.
We knew that Ram’s 702-horsepower TRX was coming soon, and that Hennessey Performance would want to increase its power. The tuner delivers. Hennessey created the Hennessey Mmmoth 900, a TRX that has been turned all the way up. also saw some dyno action this week. Hennessey today has a video of the Mammoth drag racing an stock TRX. The performance improvements are obvious.
Hennessey made a number of upgrades to the Mammoth, giving it 912 horsepower (680 kW) and far more power than the stock supercharged V8 that produces 702 horsepower (523 kW). The company also upgraded the pulley system and installed high-flow fuel injectors. The truck produces 873 pound-feet (1.184 Newton-meters), compared to the stock truck’s 650 lb/ft (881Nm). On the racetrack, the power difference is striking.
Both pickups line up for a series drag races. However, the results don’t change. The Mammoth 900 is more powerful than the stock TRX and can also take on larger tires of 37 inches. Although it isn’t an exact comparison of apples to apples, Hennessey’s upgrades provide a significant boost in performance. The stock TRX can reach 60 miles per hour (96 km per hour) in just 4.5 seconds. It completes the quarter-mile in 12.9 second, while the Mammoth takes only 4.7 seconds.
The TRX is a bold toy that the tuner can play with. It gives the tuner a solid starting point for adding power. Hennessey is currently developing the Mammoth 1000 . This will see the TRX produce 1,102 horsepower (755 kW), and 969 lbft (1,314Nm) of torque. According to the company, the Mammoth 1000 will have a 3.2 second 0-60 time. This makes us excited to see how it competes against the Mammoth 900. A family feud is more entertaining than any other sport.
