Mercedes-AMG GTS and Audi R8 V10 face off with amazing results

This pair has similar prices but that doesn’t necessarily mean they perform in the same way.

A new video by Auto Express showcases the performance capabilities two supercars, which aren’t among the top ranges in their respective lineups. The Mercedes AMG GT S was once the best-selling variant. However, it is now in the bottom half of the lineup. Spy shots show the GT C Coupe. The base model Audi R8 is its main rival. Customers can also get more power by opting for the V10 Plus model.

Although they are similar in price, buyers will get two very different supercars for the six-figure sum. The naturally-aspirated 5.2-liter V10 is behind the driver. It powers both the rear and front axles of the R8. The GT S, on the other hand, places the biturbo-4.0-liter V8 in front. This drives the rear wheels. Both have seven-speed gearboxes.

All-wheel drive layouts tend to be heavy but the R8 isn’t one of those. The Audi is actually lighter than the Mercedes rival.

Only the Mercedes can win this race if its turbocharged engine produces enough torque to overcome the Audi’s weight, horsepower, and traction advantages. This is a difficult task, but you can see the video to see how the AMG underdog pulls off a victory.

The standard V10-powered R8 remains the base model, but rumors continue to persist about a new entry-level model. Audi could fit the supercar with 2.9-liter biturboV6, which is in the 2017 Porsche Panamera. The powerplant produces 440 horsepower (328 kilowatts) and 100 hp (175 kW) more than the regular V10 tune.
