Jeep Comanche meets The Gladiator in Off-Road Battle

New school versus old school.

You’ve probably seen the How I Met Your Mother sitcom. If so, you may be familiar with the phrase “new” which refers to the theory that new people and new places are better than old .

Is this true for vehicles? There are two types of auto enthusiasts: people who love new cars and those who prefer classics. Each group has its own arguments, and we won’t get into the details. We will just share with you a very interesting video that compares two classic off-roaders.

Jeep Comanche meets The Gladiator in Off-Road Battle

This 17:48-minute video is part of The Fast Lane Truck’s Cheap Jeep Pickup challenge series. It compares the off-road skills and abilities of a 30-year old Jeep Comanche Pioneer with a brand-new Gladiator. The Cherokee XJ’s truck was the Comanche. It was produced in both RWD and AWD configurations between 1986 and 1992. This duel is essentially the spiritual precursor of the new Gladiator, according to many.

The Fast Lane Truck crew got a Gladiator Rubicon loaded with all the offroad goodies, including locking differentials on both axles and disconnectable sway bars. The Comanche uses its factory-open differentials and aftermarket suspension to counter it. BF Goodrich 33×10.5 R15 tire tires are also used. Both machines are in a great starting place for the off-road duel.

However, there are many other factors that can influence such comparisons. The advantages and disadvantages of each vehicle are determined by their dimensions, powertrain, departure and approach angles, as well as their powertrain. This video is very interesting and considers all of these factors. Are you still unsure whether to go vintage or all-new? Watch the video to decide for yourself.
