This sounds awfully boring for a compact SUV.
Ford Bronco News is out this morning. A new report from Ford Authority claims that they have information about the name of the small Escape-based SUV, currently called the ” Baby Bronco.” However, the report cites anonymous sources who claim it will be called the Bronco Sports. We hope that the rumors are true, as that name isn’t very good for a small SUV. We sent Ford a message asking for possible names. However, due to the secret nature of the topic, the automaker did not respond.
According to the information, it is derived from unidentified sources who have access to the automaker’s product plans. The sources do not provide any context or explain why Sport was chosen. There are many other names in this mix, Adventurer being perhaps the most notable. The Ford Authority report states that the small SUV was named Bronco Adventurer prior to the switch to Bronco Sports. Scout, Outer Banks and Big Bend are other possible names among the sea of Ford trademarks. The last two were filed in late July. Bronco Sport is also trademarked so it may happen.
This is quite a collection of trademarked names. However, Ford will offer more Broncos. A larger body-on frame SUV is also in development. There’s no reason for us to believe that some of these names won’t be available as special edition variants down the line. The Ford Authority report says that the Bronco Sports will be available in late 2020. This contradicts other reports, which are supported by anonymous sources. They claim that the smaller Bronco will be revealed in 2020 and then the new F150 pickup next year. The full-size Bronco will then be unveiled in 2021.
One thing is certain. There is a lot of excitement about the Bronco’s upcoming return. We hope the unveiling is soon.
