Unusual Nissan Z spotted on Track with Widebody Kit

The back of this Z has a larger wing.

The video of a modified Nissan Z driving on the track is a puzzle in automotive terms. Although the uploader suggests that this is the Nismo version of the upcoming coupe we are left to wonder about some other aspects of this clip.

The video is only three seconds long. It shows the mysterious Z passing the Honda S2000 driver. This Nissan appears to have wider front fenders than the standard Nissan. The dark color indicates that the panels may be carbon fiber. The sills on the sides seem to be larger. Although the clip is grainy, it appears like there is a spoiler on top of the roof. The piece is also black which suggests that this could be carbon fiber. The rear deck also has a prominent wing.

The Z appears to ride lower than the stock car. There is also the possibility of a modification to the exhaust, as there appears to be a bright semicircle on the right. Road-going Z has two exhaust outlets, one on each side.

This video has many little issues that raise questions. The clip’s shortness is the main problem. Both the Z and the camera car are clearly following a track. It would be strange for either one of them to do only one lap. Therefore, there should be more opportunities to see the Nissan beyond those three seconds.

It is also unusual for Nissan to display a previously unannounced vehicle at what appears to have been a public track day. This Z doesn’t appear to have camouflage.

The new Z won’t be available for purchase until June in Japan. We have to exclude any customer from purchasing one and making these changes.

All of this being said, we must take the assertion of the uploader that this is the Nismo Z new version with a grain. It’s not even clear what we are seeing here.

The date when the Z will be available in the United States is not known. Rumours suggest that they may start arriving in June. The model is not priced in this market.
