Porsche takes on Japan’s fastest sports car at the drag strip.
It’s been a week since the Carwow crew brought four high performance Volkswagen Group products to dragstrip. They have another drag race to show us, since it’s weekend again. This time the theme is Germany against Japan, two versus 1.
The Porsche 911 Turbo S will be racing against two of Japan’s fastest cars in drag race. These are the Nissan GT-R Nismo and the hybrid Honda NSX. Are the Honda and Nissan able to compete with the Porsche? These are their statistics.
Let’s begin with the smallest car in the trio, the Honda NSX. The NSX has a 3.5-liter twin turbo V6 and three electric motors. This combination produces 581 horsepower (427 Kilowatts) as well as 476 pound-feet (645 Nm), of torque. Although it is not the most powerful, it has the lowest power.
Next up is the Nissan GT-R Nismo. The Nissan, unlike the Honda is all about brute power. Here, you won’t find batteries or electric motors. Its original design dates back at least to 2007. This is the Nismo version. It packs 600 horsepower (447 Kilowatts) as well as 481 pound-feet (652 Newton-meters). This is the factory tune that’s most comparable to the 3.8-liter twin-turbo V6.
The Porsche 911 Turbo S is last but not least. It also features a 3.8-liter twin-turbo engine. However, this is where the similarities end between the Porsche 911 Turbo S and the Nissan. The flat-six Porsche produces even more power. It produces 650 horsepower (478 Kilowatts) as well as 590 pound-feet (890 Newton-meters). This is the Porsche, which is by far the most powerful.
Will the power rankings make it predictable? Although the 911 Turbo S has been dominant in Carwow drag racing, Honda and Nissan can make an upset. The hybrid drive system of the Honda could allow it to jump ahead at launch. While the GT-R may be able give the Porsche a run for their money, Make your wagers now
