The all-new Honda Insight is here. Honda finally shows off the handsome new hybrid in sheet metal, following the Detroit debut of its prototype. Honda’s latest addition to its fleet of electrified cars is scheduled for an official display at the New York Auto Show in just days.
The Insight borrows design cues form the rest of Honda’s range, such as the “flying wing”, grille and low-profile LED taillights and headlights. It also has a coupe-like roofline.
A Fuel-efficient, two-motor hybrid powertrain Similar to the one on the Accord Hybrid Under the hood, you will find. 1.5-liter gasoline engine is paired with an electric propulsion motor, and a lithium-ion battery pack to produce 151 horsepower (112 Kilowatts) as well as 197 pound-feet (267 Newton meters) of torque. The new Insight can return up to 55 mpg in city driving with three modes – Econ, Econ and Sport.
Henio Arangeli, Jr., senior Vice President of American Honda Motor Co., Inc., stated that “The Honda Insight” shows consumers that efficiency doesn’t have to mean giving up style, refinement, or performance.
The Insight’s cabin will feature an 8-inch touchscreen and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration. It also includes standard Honda Sensing technology. All trims will have the suite of safety features, including forward collision warning, collision mitigation brake, adaptive cruise control, traffic sign recognition, and adaptive cruise control. The higher-trim EX models and Touring models will also get Honda LaneWatch.
Honda’s Greensburg facility will produce the new Insight alongside the Civic, CR-V, and CR-V. The hybrid battery and 1.5-liter gasoline engine will be made in Ohio. Honda’s Marysville plant will produce the first, while the second will be manufactured at the Anna, Ohio location. There is no information yet on the pricing and availability.
