Hennessey takes Chevy Corvette ZR1 to 194 MPH

Hennessey offers upgrades packages that will make the ZR1 faster.

Hennessey Performancehas been studying its Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 over the past few months in order to find ways to make it even faster. The company has released a video showing how fast the stock coupe can go.

This clip shows Hennessey’s ZR1 reaching 193 mph (311 km/h) easily. But pay attention to the speedometer. Just as the driver presses the accelerator, the speedometer briefly hits 194 mph (312 km/h), before it quickly slows down. As you witness the Corvette’s incredible acceleration, be sure to look at the fuel gauge right next to the tachometer. You can see it ticking down throughout the run.

Hennessey tested the ZR1’s top speed before putting the Corvette on a Dynamometer in order to determine how much power the supercharged V8 put out at the wheels. According to company readings, the coupe delivers 654 horsepower (488 Kilowatts) as well as 645 pound-feet (875 Newton meters) of torque to road. The factory specs for the coupe are 755 horsepower (563 kW) & 715 lb/ft (969 Nm). This results in a roughly 13 percent loss of drivetrain.

Hennessey offers three performance upgrades packages for the ZR1. The HPE850 increases the engine output to 850hp (634kW) & 715lbft (7,310Nm); HPE1000 is capable of producing 1,000hp (746kW) and 9,66lb (1,310Nm), while the HPE1200, which boosts the engine displacement to sevenliters, and installs a high-flow turbocharger, takes the power up to 1,200hp (895kW) and 1,066lft (1s445 Nm) and 1,066lb-ft (1s,445 kW) respectively The ultimate configuration can reach speeds of over 230 mph (370 km/h), and 60 mph in just 2.2 seconds.
