Before Porsche asks you to, say hello to the 992-series 911.
We’re not sure Porsche is really that keen to keep the next-generation Porsche secret. Although spy photos aren’t “spying” Porsche’s supercar, they do show it from all angles. We are happy to admit that the new 911 looks absolutely stunning in blue, even though it is not painted black like the Porsche prototype. This car is impossible to miss in public and we believe that Porsche intends it to be noticed. Some spots still have a little bit of curious tape. The corners of the redesigned wraparound taillights are now hidden. There’s also some tape in the middle that could conceal a rear camera, other parking assist tech, or Porsche badges. We are not sure if the third brake light is in the final spot or if there are other details to the design. A previous generation’s third brake light ran horizontally above its engine vent. So a vertical change might be an option.
The rest of the car is pretty much the same. Although the Porsche 911 design evolution has not been groundbreaking, we can clearly see the new front fascia, headlights and sculpted roof. This gives the new look a more squared-off, chiseled appearance that reminds in some ways of the 993 generation. The new supercar’s back features an aggressive rear fascia with thin taillights, giving it a modern, sleek appearance.
Although we have a great view of the new 911, Porsche is still keeping us guessing about what lies beneath. We know that the cockpit has a digital instrument cluster, and that the turbocharged flat-six engine should be kept. To signal the arrival of a new generation, power should be increased at least slightly. From its 3.0-liter engine, the Carrera produces 370 horsepower (272kilowatts). We expect the 992 to be officially announced soon, with the new 911 being unabashedly out-and-about.
