Low-Mileage Ford Sierra Cosworth RS500 Offered For $150,000This is $20,000 more than the highest estimate.

Only a handful of cars have such a high “car-towing” ratio as the Ford Sierra Cosworth RS500. There were only 500 made, and they all shared the “whale tail”. The majority came in black, but there were a few that were painted white or moonstone blue. One example was also finished in gray.

The Cosworth-powered Sierra RS500 was not as powerful as its race car counterpart. It produced 224 hp (277 kW) and 204 lb (277.5 Nm) from a 2.0 liter engine with a Garrett turbocharger. The track-only model produced a staggering 500 horsepower, but higher tunings brought the engine to around 570 horsepower.

The road-going car with its RWD layout is still quite fast, with the 0-62mph (0-100 km/h) in 6.2 seconds, before reaching a respectable top speed at 153 mph (246 km/h).

This particular car is number #387. It has driven less than 11,000 km in its 30 year history. The car received a complete service in early 2017, including new fluids and belts, fuel tank, and battery. John Taylor, a Cosworth specialist, was responsible for bringing the car back on track. This included installing new brake discs at both the front and rear axles.

Except for the parts that were changed during service, the rest of this Sierra Cosworth RS500 are original. The original Dunlop tires that came with the car in 1987, when it was first delivered to its owner, are still on the vehicle. All the body panels and windows are original, as are the wheels. The interior is in excellent condition and shows no signs of wear.

Silverstone Auctions will offer the Ford for sale during its Classic Sale 2017. It is expected to fetch between PS90,000.000 and PS100,000. (117,000 and $130,000 respectively) plus a 15% buyer’s premium. The winning bidder will receive all original parts, the complete service history, and the handbooks. The police in Surrey, U.K., also issued a parking ticket on June 2, 1990.
