Rolls Royce Phantom II "Star of India", for sale at 8 million poundsWhen it goes up for auction, a new vehicle will be named the “world’s most expensive car”.

This classic luxury car is set to go on the market at a record-breaking price. Thakorsaheb, then-Maharaja of Rajkot commissioned the 1934 Rolls Royce Phantom II 50/50 HP Continental. It was named after the Star of India, a 563-carat Star Sapphire.
The Star of India, which is made with a polished aluminum body and wing panels will fetch a staggering PS8 million. This price is 10% higher than the most expensive car currently on sale, the 1957 Ferrari Testarossa which was sold earlier this year for PS7.2 million.
Hans-Gunther Zach is the current owner of the 7.7-liter V8-engined car. It is part of a large collection of Bentleys as well as Rolls-Royces. It is a unique vehicle in that it has 14 headlights (including adaptive lights) at the front. The Torpedo Convertible top is custom-made by Thrupp & Maberly.
