It is unknown how much it will cost.

The Renault Alaskan is France’s equivalent to the Nissan Navara, and the new Mercedes-Benz X-Class. It is now expanding its reach to more markets. The one-ton pickup was first introduced in South America in 2016.

It has 160 horsepower or 190 horsepower (119, 141 kilowatts), 2,205 pounds towing capacity (1,000 kgs) and 1,630 pounds hauling capacity (739 kilograms). You can choose from a six-speed manual, seven-speed automatic or both, and you have three driving modes: 2WD, 4H all-wheel-drive, 4LO, or 7LO.

This performance places the Alaskan in direct competition with European offerings such as the Toyota Hilux or Ford Ranger ( soon available in the U.S). In just 12 seconds, you can sprint from 0-60 miles per hour (96 km/h) and top speed is just 100 mph (160 km/h).

Ashcan Gupta (Global Head, Renault-Nissan LCV Business), stated that ALASKAN’s Latin American release and availability in Europe are further proof of Renault’s global ambitions. “ALASKAN, a powerful and robust pick-up has been created to satisfy the demands of both private buyers and business customers.”

Renault hopes that the Alaskan will take advantage of the European one-ton pickup market, which saw a 25 percent growth in 2016, and 19% in the first half 2017. Renault has over 9,000 dealers and sales outlets throughout the region. This makes it relatively easy to sell and market the small pickup.

The Alaskan was built in Renault’s Cuernavaca Mexico, Barcelona, Spain, and Cordoba Argenta assembly plants. There is no word yet on the price of the pickup when it becomes available for European buyers later this year.
