BMW has provided additional information and photos regarding the 2011 M3 Competition Package.

The Competition Package will be available on both the M3 Coupe (and the M3 Sedan) this spring. The Competition Package features a lower suspension (ride height reduced by 10mm), lighter alloy wheels, and an especially developed’sport’ mode that is part of the Electronic Damping Control. It also includes a revised stability control program. You can choose from carbon fiber front flaps or a carbon fibre rear spoiler.

BMW announced that all 2011 M3s (Sedan Coupe and Convertible) will have an engine stop/start function. This system will reduce average fuel consumption by 8% and cut C02 emissions by 24 g/km. BMW claims that the M3 Coupe or M3 Sedan will have an average fuel consumption rate of 11.2 L/100km (21 MPG US) with the optional 7 speed M dual clutch transmission. Manual models, however, consume 12.4 L/100km (19 MPG US). The M3 Convertible, on the other hand, has an average fuel consumption 11.5 l/100km (20.4 US mpg), M dual clutch transmission (Drivelogic), and 12.7 L/100km (18.5 US mpg) with 6-speed manual transmission.
