Dagger GT with 2000hp and 300 mph hypercar redefined

The new Bugatti Veyron competitor is on the market in 2011, with high ambitions to break every performance record. It’s the Dagger GT.

Dagger GT has ambitious ambitions to be the most sinister production vehicle ever made. Five Dagger GTs will be produced in 2011, and all except two of them have been pre-sold. U.S.-based TranStar Racing claims its design is based upon the Corvette Cheetah idea. It vows to break all major records, from being fastest in a straight line to being fastest around the Nurburgring.

What credentials does it have? TranStar Rac lists an “who’s who”, of U.S. industry veterans. The TranStar team has a wide range of expertise, from race car builders and engineers to NASA aerodynamicists and designers of the Saleen S7.

For hardware, TranStar proposes a 572 multifuel (petrol/methanol/hydrogen/ethanol) twin turbo racing unit from Nelson Racing Engines (builders of the 1800hp Mosler Red Devil) which is capable of spewing out a seemingly insurmountable 1,491 kW (2,000 bhp / 2,028 PS). A TranStar/Mendeola 6-speed transmission is capable of producing 2,710Nm (2,000lb-ft) peak torque.

The expected performance figures are also impressive: 0-60mph in 1.5 seconds, quarter-mile in less than 6 seconds, and a top speed exceeding 483 km/h (353mph). Carbon fibre is used as the outer structure, and a 4130 Chromoly steel chassis provides the internal structure.

There are three models to choose from: a racer, street-legal sports version, and a luxurious GT-X with soft-riding that combines speed and comfort.

After the five initial contract units are sold, 10 units will be available for sale in the second half of 2011. Each car is priced at minimum US$450,000 (EUR360,000)
