Nissan GT-R broke its previous record at Nurburgring’s Nordschleife circuit in 7 minutes and 26.7 seconds.
Nissan’s GT-R has set a new lap record at the Nurburgring Nordschleife circuit. A sprint around the track on April 23rd took Nissan 7 minutes and 26.7 seconds.
GT-R broke its previous record of 7 minutes 27.56 second, which was set on April 15th.
This new record time is a landmark for Nissan and a nudge at Euro-centric car people who might be too proud of their dominance at endurance races at tracks such as the Nurburgring.
It is the democratic principle that is at work here, but it is more important. The GT-R is a more popular model and its track time is intended to impress customers who choose it over more expensive and prestigious premium models from Mercedes-Benz, Porsche, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, etc.
Kazutoshi Mizuno is Nissan’s Chief Engineer and Chief Vehicle Specialist. “We want to keep delivering the passion, pride, and ownership to our customers by continually improving its performance,” he said.
It’s not about winning titles, but about winning the hearts of potential customers. That’s how cars are sold.
