These results are predictable.
Although most petrolheads won’t admit it, they are addicted to drag-racing videos. They took this to heart and created the This video series, which featured some amazing races. They’ve recently increased the intensity by bringing Ken Block and his Hoonicorn, the Head Hoonigan in Charge to the stage, along with a McLaren Senna, as competition.
The performance figures show that this is not a fair battle. While McLaren may be out of its depth, it is still an extremely fast car that can go straight. The McLaren can reach speeds of 62 mph (100 km/h) in 2.8 seconds and 124 mph in 6.8 seconds. It can reach speeds of 62 miles per hour (100 km/h) in 2.8 seconds, and 124 mph (199 km/h) in 6.8 seconds.
The Hoonicorn also features a Ford engine made by Roush Yates, who are the same people who make engines for Ford’s competitors at the Nascar Cup Series. It has two of the largest turbochargers that we have ever seen. It produces 1,400 horsepower (1.043 kilowatts), and it doesn’t require any intercoolers, as it runs on methanol. Although the vehicle is designed to look good on camera, it can also be used as a drag car. It uses an all-wheel drive and a sequential gearbox to get the power down.
Ken smoked the Senna the first time, as expected. The Hoonicorn seized the opportunity to stop the McLaren from spinning its wheels and instead hooked it up; all-wheel drive, 315-section Toyo R888R tires at each corner, and all-wheel-drive certainly earned them their keep. Although he was able to put over four car lengths ahead of his rival, the video replay clearly shows that the engineering marvel from U.K. jumped off the line slightly faster.
Even though the British competitor had an advantage of three cars at the start, the British competitor still lost by an eternity on the runway. The Senna is an extremely fast car, but the Hoonicorn is very fast. Brian Scotto, Director of Gymkhana Films, stated that the Senna was unbelieveably fast even before turbocharging.
While some might argue that this was not a drag race, it is clear that Ken Block and his vehicle are available for any day.
