We will excuse the man behind the camera who films vertically…
Genesis revealed the GV70 in October. Let’s just say that it was not generous with the gallery. A YouTuber filmed a new video in South Korea that gives us a better look at the luxury crossover. The footage was shot in portrait mode. We are sharing it anyway, though.
This is not a regular GV70. It’s the Sport version, riding on 21-inch wheels with what Genesis calls “G-Matrix” on the spokes. This version also features dark chrome accents and large oval exhaust tips at each corner. The prototype featured a striking matte green paint and matched interior, which was contrasted with the red stitching.
You can say what you want about the exterior design but the GV70 truly stands out among a sea premium compact SUVs. Genesis can also differentiate itself from its German counterparts by introducing a new cabin design. We didn’t realize that the GV70 featured such a large panoramic roof because of the few photos we were able to see from Hyundai’s posh brand.
Notice how Genesis integrated the button to open and close the tailgate into its base. This feature is similar to what BMW has on their wagons. The button opens the glass portion of the tailgate. This prototype was an all-wheel-drive model, as indicated by the 4WD badge. It refers to the HTRAC system offered Hyundai or Genesis. These cannon-like exhausts look much more real than the fake ones European cars proudly display.
The Genesis GV70’s debut in October was more like a preview. We expect a full gallery of images and detailed technical specifications to be revealed in the coming weeks. The 2022MY version will go on sale in North America, so you won’t be able to see one at your local dealer for a while.
