What could have been?
Bugatti isn’t planning to remove the roof from the Chiron supercar. In July 2016, the company announced that the Veyron’s successor would not be used as a foundation for either a convertible, or a roadster. It’s okay. However, that doesn’t mean that we can’t dream of a Chiron Roadster. You can now see the exclusive rendering of what could have been the ultimate convertible supercar with this link. To create such a car, you don’t need to be a professor of design. To make the folded roof fit in the body, you will need to remove the roof. This is how our artists made this yellow Chiron’s sexy targa roofing layout.
A Chiron Roadster is almost impossible right now, but Bugatti revealed a hot version of its supercar earlier this year at the Geneva Motor Show. The Chiron Sport has a stiffer suspension and a dynamic torque vectoring function that distributes torque to each wheel individually. It also features new carbon fiber wheels with intercooler covers, which reduce the car’s weight by 40 pounds (18 kg).
These improvements are combined together with a lighter exhaust system and a carbon fiber windshield wiper. This wiper can save up to 77% compared to conventional wipers. Bugatti claims that the Chiron Sport is faster than the standard Chiron. The French automaker delivered 70 Chirons last year to customers. It is now planning to produce 100 units in 2018.
