Although 2018 changes are minimal, could the Shelby GT500 get an extra power boost?

Chevrolet unveiled the facelifted 2019 Camaro earlier in the year. However, the ZL1 was not invited to the party. In July we saw another Mplate ZL1 with the same front fascia and new Camaro taillights. The car was unmistakable, as is the latest ZL1 sighting. This time, we have the 1LE hardcore version. It can be identified by its wings and aero bits at the front, and the wicked black spoiler in the trunk.

The front fascia of the new model is identical, as it appears. The new front fascia may not be able to achieve the same aerodynamic benefits for the ZL1 or perhaps engineers have heard some criticisms about the SS model’s new design and are trying to backtrack. Chevrolet may want its flagship muscle car to be different from its siblings. It doesn’t matter what, the ZL1 will likely be a familiar face once it goes on sale.

It will look familiar from the front. The 2019 Camaro still gives the rear its new treatment, with a bumper cover and taillights that have been updated. The 1LE’s rearview camera is now located at the shark fin on roof. It was previously integrated into the spoiler of the ZL1 standard ZL1, but the large rear wing required a different location. It remains to be determined if it will be moved up on the final production ZL1.

Nothing has been said about the powertrain’s future. This means 650 horsepower (485 kilowatts). The supercharged LT4 engine produces the power, driving the rear wheels via either a 6-speed manual or 10-speed automatic. We wouldn’t be surprised to see a new Shelby GT500 with 700 horsepower waiting in the wings. We can only guess when it will happen. An official announcement about the Detroit or LA shows is possible as we enter auto show season.
