Honda Civic Type R MUGEN2.2 Announced

The Civic Type R MUGEN 2.2 was designed to celebrate the K20 2.0-liter petrol engine. It has a larger cylinder bore and stroke, which allows the mill to produce a displacement of 2,156cc (2.2-liters).

The Honda Civic TypeR MUGEN was not enough to impress you, so this upgraded 2.2 version might be a good alternative. The model was created to commemorate the 2.0-liter K20 petrol motor, which has recently gone outof production. It features an increased bore and stroke, giving it a displacement of 2,156cc (2.2-liters). This change has resulted in 260 PS (191kW/256 hp) as well as 240 Nm (173 lb-ft of torque). Honda has not yet finalized production plans, but Honda is looking at two options: either convert the remaining Civic Type R MUGENs 2010 or offer the conversion to existing Honda owners.

Hiro Toyoda, vice president of MUGEN Euro, stated that “Environmental pressures means naturally aspirated engine are quickly being superseded” by other engine architectures. The K20 may not be seen in a mainstream production vehicle again. Therefore, we felt it appropriate to mark the occasion by releasing this special 2.2 Honda Civic Type R.
